Several new Take 5 Oil Change locations slated for Orlando

Take 5 Oil Change is growing its presence in Orlando.

Take 5 Oil Change will add 14 new locations in metro Orlando during the next few years.

Clearwater-based franchisee Purple Square Management Co. plans to open a location for the chain on a 0.44-acreparcel at 3608 E. Colonial Drive in Orlando. Purple Square Marketing Manager Erin Sheerin told Orlando Business Journal the location opened on Sept. 9.

The Orlando office of Dallas-based SRS Real Estate Partners represented an entity connected to Clearwater-based CSC Properties LLC, which bought the Colonial Drive property on July 16 for $1.3 million to develop into the new location, SRS spokeswoman Jamie Pape told OBJ.

The franchisee also is developing locations at Curry Ford Road and South Goldenrod Road in Orlando; on Cypress Parkway in Poinciana; and at 267 Merritt Island Causeway in Merritt Island, with planned openings during the first and second quarter of 2021.

The first four stores are expected to add a combined 50-60 jobs.

In addition, Purple Square plans to look at an additional 10 Central Florida locations as appropriate sites become available over the next 18 months. The chain will open future locations in Eustis, Clermont and Melborne, Sheerin said.

Take 5, which is owned by Charlotte-based Driven Brands, has more than 500 U.S. locations — including 14 in Central Florida.

The expansion rush comes as more companies have started franchise sales again despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The number of U.S. franchisors that have not resumed franchise sales during the Covid-19 pandemic improved from 35% in April to just 16% in August, according to a survey by Herndon, Virginia-based FranConnect. Further, 68% of those surveyed expected anywhere from one to 10 new units to open between August and December, while 18% expected no new openings in that timeframe.
