The Brass Tap will make its Charlotte — and North Carolina — debut with a location in South End. The Tampa, Fla.-based franchise has signed a lease for roughly 3,000 square feet at 1440 S. Tryon St. That space was formerly the Dharma Lounge.
“We just want to make it the place to be,” says Vik Patel, franchisee for The Brass Tap’s North Carolina locations. His partners on the South End project are Jaimal Patel and Dave Hurt.
The upscale craft beer and wine emporium offers up to 80 beers on tap and has several hundred more available in bottles.
It features a bistro menu with burgers, flatbreads, wings, quesadillas and other options. “A lot of the food has been created specifically and designed for beer pairing,” Vik Patel says.
Patel anticipates investing about $600,000 to renovate the South Tryon Street location. Construction is expected to begin by mid-March, depending on permitting, he adds. No timetable was available for when the location will open.
“We want to be in the Charlotte market. It’s vibrant. It’s growing. It’s full of millennials,” says Chris Elliott, CEO of The Brass Tap.
The Brass Tap sees potential for as many as five locations in the Charlotte market, and up to 15 in the state. The brand is targeting growth in the Southeast, Elliott says. Locations can be described as an entertainment venue with a “cool vibe,” he adds. There’s a focus on everything from decor and live music to the level of service and quality of products offered.
The variety of beer is a big draw, Elliott adds. “You can come in every day of the year and choose something different,” he says.
